Day 9: 1 Nephi 21-22

 Hello Friends!

Today we finish reading 1 Nephi in the Book of Mormon.  If you are familiar with Isaiah in the Old Testament you can compare the two.  I find it interesting how much Nephi talks about and quotes Isaiah.  I know that it is for a great purpose and that if I study Isaiah I will know more and be prepared for things to come.

I have to share a story that happened during bedtime last night.  My husband is out of town, so as I was getting the two littlest  boys down for bed, I reminded them to say their nighttime prayers.  I went over to my 6 year old's bed and kneeled down with him.  He said the sweetest prayer and something I've never heard him say before.  "Please bless that my sins will be washed away today."  I was humbled by a 6 year old's prayer.  What a sweet reminder that we can ask for forgiveness if we make a mistake and also that someone is listening.

I found this scrapbook page of him when he was a baby.  I truly believe that he will be a great missionary one day.

Today I picked up a dry erase board when I was at the store.  I thought I would try to bring more peace into my house by writing a "Scripture of the Day".  I told my older kids that we will all take turns writing a scripture for the day.  Just by having this scripture up for one day, I could feel a difference.  I encourage you to write down your favorite scriptures or highlight ones that stand out to you in your scripture reading.
(I bought this cool dry erase board at Target.)

1 Nephi 21

In this chapter I really had to pray and ponder what the verses meant to me.  I encourage you to do the same.  I will share a couple of scriptures that stood out to me.

1 Nephi 21:13
"Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; for the feet of those who are in the east shall be established; and break forth into singing, O mountains; for they shall be smitten no more; for the Lord hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted."

1 Nephi 21:16
"Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me."

1 Nephi 21:22
"Thus saith the Lord God:  Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people; and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders."

LOVE this one!

1 Nephi 21:23
"…and thou shalt know that I am the Lord; for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me."

1 Nephi 21:26
"…and all flesh shall know that I, the Lord, am thy Savior and thy Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob."

Chapter 22 is great because Nephi explains Isaiah to his brothers who don't understand.

Here is a message of Hope for you today.  Hope you have a wonderful day and feel of my love and the Savior's love for each of you.

  3. I love the dry erase board! I think I'll do that here :)

I was able to go pick up my book from the post office today so I am reading through it again - I've been reading along online but for some reason I absorb waayy better reading in book form, so I've actually been able to get a better picture of the scriptures today than I have all week.

    1. That is wonderful! Don't forget to mark up your scriptures with a highlighter or pencil. You don't want to forget what scriptures pop out to you.

      Have a great night!
