Day 5: 1 Nephi 13-14

Happy Friday Everyone!

I wanted to let you all know that I still have extra copies of the Book of Mormon on hand that I would love to send out to you!  I know some of you are reading it with us online, but it is really nice to have your own copy which you can mark up yourself and put your own notes in.  Just click on the button on the right side of my blog and contact me if you would like one.  You can read along online HERE while you are waiting for your copy to arrive in the mail.

Also, here is a link to the reading schedule in case you are just now joining us.  Please feel free to read at your own pace.  Click HERE to see where we will be tomorrow!

I thought I would start today's post out by sharing something from the Tabernacle Choir.  I feel such joy and peace listening to uplifting music.  I want to invite the Spirit to be with us as we read from our pages today.

There is Sunshine in My Soul Today...

July is a very special month for me.  It was 18 years ago this month that I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  I can honestly say that my life was changed forever.  I'm excited to share more of my story with you as we study from the Book of Mormon together.

(Look how young I look!)

(Here I am with the missionaries who knocked on my door and shared the gospel of Jesus Christ with me.  I am forever grateful that they had the patience and love it took to teach me.  They answered my many questions and helped me to understand God's plan for me.  Thank you Elder Peoples and Elder Ellyson.)

Today I will keep it short and simple and share two scriptures from today's reading that meant something to me.  I pray that you all feel the peace that comes with reading the scriptures.  As always, if you have any questions please e-mail me or leave a comment.  My husband, Bryan, is also reading with us and leaving comments.

1 Nephi 13:37
"And blessed are they who shall seek to bring forth my Zion at that day, for they shall have the gift and the power of the Holy Ghost; and if they endure unto the end they shall be lifted up at the last day, and shall be saved in the everlasting kingdom of the Lamb; and whoso shall publish peace, yea, tidings of great joy, how beautiful upon the mountains shall they be."

1 Nephi 14:7

"For the time cometh, saith the Lamb of God, that I will work a great and a marvelous work among the children of men; a work which shall be everlasting, either on the one had or on the other…"

I wanted to leave you with this sweet video put out by Mormon Messages and the LDS church.  I hope it touches your heart like it has touched mine.  Many of you are going through your own personal trials right now and I want you to know that the Lord knows each of you personally and he is there to help you with what you need.  This message of courage and faith is to all.

I will chat with you all tomorrow!  There is a very special event that I can't wait to share with you.  I feel truly blessed to be able to be a part of it.  Much love and big hugs to you all!

  2. congrats on your baptism anniversary !!

Chapter 14 was very confusing to me.... I read it 3 times.... in verse 10 it talks about the whore of all the earth...is that talking about the church of the devil?

  3. You may want to fix your reading schedule as stated on the top of this page. Today's post says 1 Nephi 12-13. Yesterday we read 11-12, tomorrow is 1 Nephi 15-16. (We skipped 14 and read 12 twice!)
