Day 12: 2 Nephi 5-7

Hello Everyone!

I hope you all had a fantastic Friday!  I started the day off with a tennis lesson, was able to go to the Oklahoma City LDS Temple, and then ended with dinner and a movie with a friend and our boys.  My husband is still out of town until tomorrow night.  It has been a long week without my eternal companion by my side.  I sure do miss that boy!

Today I just want to share one scripture with you all and talk about it for a minute.

2 Nephi 5:27
"And it came to pass that we lived after the manner of happiness."

What does that scripture mean to you?  I can remember a time in my life when I was searching for true happiness and looking for ways that I could be happy temporarily.  It wasn't until I discovered the Gospel of Jesus Christ and started living it that I found true happiness.  It has been 18 years ago this month since I was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  To say my life had been changed is an understatement.  I now know true happiness that is eternal.

I found the following quote on www.mormon.org.

"We often fall into the trap of thinking a new car, job promotion, beauty makeover, or some level of fame will make us happy. And often they do—for a time. But it never lasts because wealth, power, beauty and fame simply don’t bring lasting happiness, as much as we wish they would. Rather, true happiness comes from following Christ’s example and developing Godlike attributes such as goodness, love, justice and mercy. It comes from serving others and helping them to follow the example and teachings of Jesus Christ. It comes from overcoming the appetites of our human bodies and instead following the promptings of the Spirit. It comes from working hard and having a healthy lifestyle, friends, family, and personal achievements. Regardless of what you do or don’t have in this life, your deepest, most lasting happiness will come from knowing God’s plan and following it."

I want you all to know that I believe all that I have read today to be true.  You can also know for yourselves by getting on your knees and praying to your Heavenly Father about these pages.  I hope you feel the peace that I feel as I read from the Book of Mormon.

  1. I needed this today. I've been feeling that I've been judged by man's standards and for being a Christian. But I have the comfort of Jacob's words, words from Heavenly Father, that I should not worry what men/women say. God will be my guide! What a wonderful blessing!
